Because some of the people in the room will undoubtedly not even know who you are yet. Now this doesn’t have to be long. Simply saying “I’m So and So, The groom’s best man, and best friend. The next thing to do before you reach the middle of your speech, (and is traditional anyway) is to thank the people who hosted the wedding. Some ideas for the middle include telling a funny (but clean and family friendly) story about the bride or groom. You could also talk about how they first met. An important point to note here is that you want to keep your stories balanced. Try not to talk about either the groom or the bride too much. Speak about BOTH of them. Also, remember not to talk for too long. People will lose attention if you start rambling or become boring. When it comes to the end of your wedding speech, the most traditional (and we think the best) way of ending it is to raise your glass for a toast to the bride and groom, and their future together (or anything else that seems fitting). |
